The two 1-hour tutorial lectures aim at a systematic
introduction into the main ideas, methods and results of a Strong Field
QED theory, starting from the very grounds (Furry picture, Volkov
solutions, non-linear Compton scattering, Breit-Wheeler processes,
Schwinger pair production, QED cascades and vacuum birefringence) [1,2].
The first lecture will give a qualitative overview of the field, while
the second one will focus on a detailed calculation [3] of a probability
rate for non-linear Compton scattering in a plane wave with an emphasis
on the limiting cases, including the locally constant field
approximation and its applicability conditions.
